Today, the hottest freaking day ever, I went to the horse races. Near the bay….where it is usually overcast and cool. Instead it was hot and hot. And hot. It was 99 degrees. ON THE WATER. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HOT ON THE WATER IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. WHO FUCKED THIS UP?!?
I sweated all over the place. And I got to meet the jockey and the trainer (who shook my hand 12 seconds after tying something to the horses TONGUE) and I got to get my picture taken with the winning horse SINCE I AM SPECIAL. And sweaty.
And I won $200 on 2 races and I did rejoice….with ice water.
Just so you don’t think I am a slacker, I worked before the races and after the races and only stayed for 3 races. Just long enough to eat lunch, down 1 bloody mary and 44 glasses of water and sweat all over the place (they have no AC….ya know because they are located ON THE WATER. WHERE IT IS NEVER HOT).

How cool (sorry! meaning “cool” in the experiential sense!) of an outing was that! I haven’t been to the races and hung out with the horses, jockeys, trainers since I lived in Panama more than many moons ago, but what a kick in the pants that is.
Congrats on your winnings, too!
