Anatomy of a day off

6:41 am – text from hike buddy – no go.  Curl up with cats to snooze for another hour.

8:30 am – Farmers market. Half pound fresh shelled crab $15.

9:00 am – Grocery shopping with a plan.  I bought tons of fruit and healthy things so I can attempt to have one week of healthy eating.  The pace we have been keeping leaves time for drive thru, drive thru, take out and pizza.  This week I want to have a menu all planned out.  If I have a plan then I am hoping by taking 5 minutes in the morning I can bring lunch, defrost some fish for dinner, make sure there are snacks in the car, and avoid McDonalds.

10:00 am – Clean sheets, back in bed for rest, movies, lounging and a nap.

On the tap for later?  Cooking some items for above menu.  That nap.  Laundry.  And then a night in SF with new and old blogger friends.  There will be debauchery.

Oh!  More bitching?  Of course!

Blah, blah, blah, good weekend, blah, art and wine fest, blah, 2 bbq’s, blah, blah, bought a cool photograph, blah, blah, blah, such fun!

Then?  Today?  Major screw up!  I forgot it was test day at bootcamp.  Totally had to run a mile, do 50 squats with weights popping up and lifting the weights over your head, 100 jump ropes, 50 pushups – TIMED!  I did like 19:20.  Which sucked and made me second to last.  I have gained 21 seconds on my mile.  That sucks even harder.

I am so sore.  And so tired.  Tired and sore.  Sleep.  Now.

I am not competitive at work.  I do not care who makes what or who is the big dog in the office.  I just. don’t. care.

I came back to the office today after previewing some homes and showing some others and there was something shoved under the door.

On it, our names were highlighted.  Huh.  Funny.  We are number 21.  I put it aside.  Do more work.

Pick up the sheet again.  21.  Well, we are # 21.  Interesting.  Sort of.  No, not really.  I start reading the list which has 100 names on it.  If we are number 21, who is above us?

Wait.

I do not work with any of these people.  Who the hell are numbers 1-20?  Oh.  They are agents in different offices around the bay area.  Cool.  But how come no one in my office is number 1-20?  That is weird.

There is so and so in the 70’s and someone else in the high 40’s.

Put aside again, do more work, phone will not stop ringing.

Moment of quiet.  Pick up sheet.  Study it this time.  Little note at the bottom…Top Ranking Agents out of 860-some odd agents as of 4/30/2008.

WHAT THE FUCK?  We are number 21 of almost 900 agents in THE BAY AREA?  And what is an even bigger surprise?  We are the top producers in our office.  TOP.  #1.

I am not sure if I should be proud or scared for the other agents in my office.  We have not made THAT much money this year.  Of course, we have paid out a ton in referral fees and they restructured how we are ranked.  The hell?

Things are weird.  I am not sure how to process this.  How are WE number 1?

I presented an offer at 8:30 this morning, then drove to a city that is 30 minutes away and viewed 21 bank owned properties, then got an accepted offer on something else (multiple offers,we were one of three!) , then negotiated a lease, then came home, ate dinner and my phone just kept ringing and ringing.

I was THIS close to having a weekend (a 3 day one at that!) off.  But not so much.  I just got a call from a cute couple I met this weekend and they would like to look at homes on Saturday.  I am thrilled! Buyers!  Yeah!

I am holding out for one day to myself.  One day to maybe decimate the yard, or lay in bed and stare at the boob tube.  But if it means getting some more deals, I guess I will just keep working.

Sunday night, after a long day of work, I took a six pack and some dip to a friends bbq.   Everyone was done eating, so I double fisted some beers and vented on all of my friends.  Only it was good venting.  I was in 100% PMS mode and I get a very fast tongue – the snark and  sarcasm dripping from my lips.  I am my favorite when  I am like this.  I know I am funny, if not approachable, but it is ok, because it only lasts a few hours.

Tonight a friend and I snuck out for a few drinks.  Only I was interrupted and had to go back to work in the middle of dinner.  Oh well.  She tagged along and we resumed drinking when I finished.

Reminder:  Have more fun.

There comes a time when I can work so much that I lose track of everything.  The date?  No idea.  Day of the week?  I had to think about it for a few minutes.  I was staring at a blog post that said Friday on it and I was thinking “Did she write that today or yesterday?”

A client and I were discussing a move in date.  I said 2 weeks.  She said June 1.  I had to ask how many weeks until June 1.  “Around 2″she says with a bit of you are an idiot in her voice.

I live by my treo.  The little calendar feature tells me what to do each day with little bings and blips.  Not that I ever look at the calendar, just the list that pops up so I can check things off.

It is disconcerting to never know where you are in time.

Telling you about it later.

Today, the hottest freaking day ever, I went to the horse races.  Near the bay….where it is usually overcast and cool.  Instead it was hot and hot. And hot.  It was 99 degrees.  ON THE WATER.  IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HOT ON THE WATER IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA.  WHO FUCKED THIS UP?!?

I sweated all over the place. And I got to meet the jockey and the trainer (who shook my hand 12 seconds after tying something to the horses TONGUE) and I got to get my picture taken with the winning horse SINCE I AM SPECIAL.  And sweaty.

And I won $200 on 2 races and I did rejoice….with ice water.

Just so you don’t think I am a slacker, I worked before the races and after the races and only stayed for 3 races.  Just long enough to eat lunch, down 1 bloody mary and 44 glasses of water and sweat all over the place (they have no AC….ya know because they are located ON THE WATER.  WHERE IT IS NEVER HOT).

<Insert crying and whining here>

I have no idea how hot it was yesterday – over 90….not quite 100?

It was over 70 at Bootcamp this morning, which was horrible.  Then let’s add some hot wind that blew our crap all over every time we went to run.

I had wind burn when I got home – swear to god.  Hot wind is not fun.

It is going to be even hotter today.

I am wearing a skirt today.  I am not a fan of the skirt, but I cannot fathom wearing pants.  I am getting dressed up.  Tell you all about it later.

Days off – full sentences are too hard.

Not really a day off, but a day with no hard appointments.  An offer out for review.  Some errands for work and for personal stuff.  Costco.

I got up to go to Bootcamp today and noticed the trainer setting up a “course”.  Test day.  Run a mile, see how many pushups and dips you can do, and how long you can hold a plank.  I have no desire to run a mile, so I climbed back in my car and came home to clean the kitchen instead.  But I would love to know how long I could hold the plank.  My core is getting so much stronger – but my running still sucks.
I had the BEST nights sleep last night.  I was exhausted yesterday.  But it looks as if I slept in one position, on my left side, because I woke will all sorts of fluid retention in my eye – fucking allergy season is here.

I am home, waiting to get my hair colored in an hour.  I am buying art.  Or thinking of buying art.  I found 2 pieces on Etsy that are so freaking cool.  I asked for a quote for some slightly larger pieces and I am waiting with bated breath.  I hope they are not too much.
